A meeting on construction of a parking lot for the tourist and recreational cluster “Sviyazhsk” along the road “Access road to Sviyazhsk town island” in Zelenodolsk municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan was held on October 12, 2017 on Sviyazhsk island.

 The meeting was attended by Chairman of the State Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan and Committee Member Sergey Evgenevich Ivanov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan Liana Marselevna Saetova, Coordinator of Work with Mass Media of the All-Russian National Front of the Republic of Tatarstan Albina Zakidullina, Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Public Council of the State Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan Director of Kazan branch of the Russian International Academy for Tourism Kirill Nikolaevich Ponomarev, Chairman of the Tour Guides Association of the Republic of Tatarstan Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Sekretova, Deputy Director of the State Public Institution "Glavtatdortrans" Ruslan Albertovich Musin, and Director of the Museum-Reserve "The Island of Sviyazhsk“ Artem Nikolaevich Silkin.

Construction of the intercept parking lot for the access road 4 km away from the island will reduce the human impact on the buffer zone of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “The Dormition Cathedral and Monastery of Sviyazhsk town Island”, and improve the tourism services, which fact will contribute to the growth of the tourist flow. The parking lot area is 14,993 sq.m. Its capacity is 549 vehicles, including 454 cars. The sources of financing include: the budget of the Russian Federation – 41.8 million rubles, the budget of the Republic of Tatarstan – 71.2 million rubles, non-budget sources (hotels) – 302.0 million rubles. The estimated end date of construction is October 26, 2017.

The members of the public control committee have found that implementation of the Federal Special-Purpose Program “The development of the internal and incoming tourism in the Russian Federation (2011-2018)” in the Republic of Tatarstan was satisfactory.
